{{#badges:CoalSwarm|Navbar-Chinacoal}}Xinxiang Huayu power station (河南新乡豫新电厂), also known as Xinyang Pingqiao power station, is a 660-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Henan Province, China.

Units 5-6 are also referred to as Henan Xinzhongyi power station. The units were retired in 2012.

Location

The map below shows the location of the plant, in Fengquan District, Xinxiang Prefecture, Henan Province. (It seems possible from this image that Units 3-6 have been retired and demolished.)

Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Xinxiang Huayu power station, units 7-8 totaling 660 MW, were brought online in 2006. The plant was originally owned by CPI.[1]

The plant's first six units have been retired. Units 5-6, totaling 400 MW, were brought online in 1995 and bought by Henan Investment Group. They were retired in 2012.[2][3]

Expansion

CPI is planning to build two additional coal-fired units, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW. It was considering several locations, including expanding the existing Xinxiang Huayu power station, but decided on new plants at the retired Jiaozuo Danhe power station in the city of Qinyang.[4] The expansion in Xinxiang can therefore be considered cancelled.

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[5]
