Zhang Shuguang
Zhang Shuguang, "born on September 8, 1939 in Changan, Shanxi province, is Director of Unirule Institute of Economics; a professor in economics, a Researcher and a Supervisor for PhD students in the Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS); Member of Standing Committee of China Regional Scientific Association, Board Member of Shenzhen Research Institute of Comprehensive Exploration, Honorary Professor in Economic Institute of Northwest, Zhongshan, Nankai University.
"Zhang studied in Economic Department of Northwest University in the period from 1959 to 1963. Subsequently, he went to CASS as a postgraduate student from 1963 to 66 and then remained in the Academy doing research work after graduating in 1966. In 1979, he was promoted as Assistant Researcher. After the period of 83/84 when he was borrowed by Economic Research Center for State Council, he was promoted as Associate Researcher in 1985 and Researcher a year after. In 1993, he was selected as Supervisor for Ph.D. students by Academic Degree Commission of State Council.
"Zhang is specialized in macro-economic theory and policy as well as in institutional economics. He has participated in the research works for the Review of the Sixth Five-year Plan, the Forecast of State Capacity for the Seventh Five-year Plan, the Strategic Thinking for the Reform in the Eighth Five-year Plan, the Project of China in 2000, Developmental Strategy for Shenzhen and Hainan, and Major Research Project of China Macroeconomic Research. He has personally involved and organized several major projects, such as Macroeconomic Stability in Transitional Period, Macroeconomic Research for CASS, Measuring the Costs of Protection in China, and so on. Also, he has since the year of 1997 written articles for various new papers, which have so far been accumulated to 400 articles. In addition, he has published more than 10 books, 5 of which have translated in English and Russian.
"His principal publications are Economic Structure and Economic efficacy in 1982, The Outline of Macro-economic Theory under the Public Ownership co-authored in 1990, Case Study on China’s Institutional Change vol. I in 1996, and vol. II in 1999. Measuring the Costs of Protection in China co-authored in 1998, The Road to Prosperity in 1999, The Collection of Zhang Shuguang's Book Review in Economics in 1996, , The Discussion on Institutional Balance and Institutional Transformation in 1992, The Relations of the Whole and the Analyses of the System of the Whole in 1994, The Triangle Structure of Economic System and The Triangle Substitution in 1994, China's Reform in 90s and Macro-economy in 1996, as well as over 300 theses.
"Zhang has obtained the Sun Yefang Prize in the Thesis of Economics and Works for 4 times and the First Prize of State Scientific and Technology Advancement once. He has also been given the First and Second Prize for China Social Science Achievements twice by CASS." [1]
