Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Zhangjiagang Shazhou power station, totaling 1,260 MW, were brought online in 2006. The plant is majority owned by Wintime Energy.[1][2][3]

Expansion

In 2015 construction was underway on two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW. The units were approved for construction in May 2015.[4]

Unit 3 was commissioned in July 2017,[5] and unit 4 in September 2017.[6]
