Background on Plant

Zhengzhou Xinli power station is a five-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,000 MW. The plant was completed between 1992 and 2006, and is owned by Henan Investment Group.

The five units were retired in 2019.

Expansion

Henan Investment Group has proposed a 2 x 660 MW expansion of the plant--a combined heat and power (CHP) coal plant for residential use. The project was permitted in 2015. As of 2017 the units were under construction.

Unit 5 was commissioned in January 2019.
