Background on Plant

Zhengzhou Xinli power station is a five-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,000 MW. The plant was completed between 1992 and 2006, and is owned by Henan Investment Group.[1]

The five units were retired in 2019.[2]

Expansion

Henan Investment Group has proposed a 2 x 660 MW expansion of the plant--a combined heat and power (CHP) coal plant for residential use. The project was permitted in 2015.[3] As of 2017 the units were under construction.[4]

Unit 5 was commissioned in January 2019.[5]
