Background on Plant

Zhong'an United Coal Chemical Panji power station is a 3 x 50 MW coal plant under construction in Qiji, Panji. It is sponsored by Sinopec and Wanbei Coal-Electricity Group as a captive power plant for a coal chemical project being developed by the sponsors. The first phase of the chemical project started construction in 2010, but was later shelved. In June 2017, construction on the first phase started again, and is planned to go operation in 2019.[1][2]

The three units were commissioned in August 2019.[3]

Proposed expansion

Sinopec and Wanbei Coal-Electricity Group have proposed a 2 x 350 MW expansion of the coal plant. It would be for the second phase of their coal chemical project, suggesting it will be pursued after the first phase is completed, in 2019 or later.[2]
