Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan

The Port of Ningbo was merged with the neighboring Port of Zhoushan in 2006 to form a combined cargo-handling centre.

Location
The port is situated at the estuary of the Yangtze River, the Qiantangjiang River and the Yongjiang River.
Background
On June 9, 2009, Zhejiang Zhoushan Coal Transfer Wharf, the biggest coal transfer wharf in east China, was officially opened. The Wharf has been constructed and managed by Zhejiang Electric Power Construction.[1]
In 2012 the port handled 98 million tonnes of coal.[2]
In 2015 Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was considered the busiest in the world in terms of cargo tonnage, with a combined throughput of 873 million metric tons.[3]
