Background on Plant
In September 2010, Yıldızlar SSS Holding began initial site preparation work for a three-unit, 400-MW, $600 million mine-to-mouth coal-fired power plant in Çankırı province, near Yıldızlar's Çankırı Orta coal mine.[1] Yıldızlar contracted Skoda Power to provide the turbines for the three units in October.[2]
In July 2012, Yıldızlar hired Raiffeisen Bank and UniCredit to underwrite $484 million in loans to finance the plant's construction — seemingly indicating that construction had not yet begun at that point.[3] Since then, there is no news of further construction on the plant, and it is unclear whether or not this project is in fact moving forward.
