Background on Plant

In May 2012, Turkey's Yıldırım Group and China's Shenhua Group announced that they would be working together to build a $2 billion, 2,000-MW coal-fired power plant in Turkey's southern İskenderun province.

In 2017, Shenhua Group merged with China Guodian to form National Energy Investment Group.
