Background

The floating regasification unit (FSRU) commissioned from BW LNG is being built in South Korea. It was commissioned by Açu Natural Gas (GNA Açu) and is scheduled to be delivered in March 2019 by the South Korean shipyard DSME. The BW LNG vessel will make up the LNG terminal at Açu Port (RJ), estimated at R $ 325 million. The plants will begin to operate in the port and industrial complex between the years of 2021 and 2023. The ship’s LNG transfer operation to the FSRU will be in the ship-to-ship mode, where the vessels will be docked. The importation of the product will occur periodically according to the needs of the Brazilian electrical system. GNA Açu is a partnership between BP, Prumo Logística and Siemens.[2]
