Biographical Information

"Adam Holloway became the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Middle East Council in June 2010. He has travelled widely across the region – including Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, the West Bank and to the Gaza Strip as part of a CMEC delegation in February 2009 shortly after Operation Cast Lead.

"Adam has a strong interest in international security and sat on the Defence Select Committee from 2006 to 2010. He is particularly concerned with resolving tensions in Afghanistan and the Middle East and is Co-Chairman of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (www.caabu.org). He is also a member of Conservative Friends of Israel.

"Adam was elected to serve as the MP for Gravesham in May 2005. He was re-elected in 2010, achieving a second large swing to the Tory party. He read Theology and then Social and Political Science at Cambridge University, and holds an MBA from Imperial College of Science and Technology. After university he went to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before being commissioned into the Grenadier Guards.

"After leaving the army Adam became an investigative journalist presenting World in Action, as well as his own prime-time series Disguises on ITV: his films covered a wide range of subjects – he spent three months living homeless in London, posed as a wandering schizophrenic and as a deaf and dumb Muslim during the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia. He lived in a wheelchair and as an asylum seeker seeking entry into Europe with international people smugglers. Later he was Senior Reporter at ITN, where he also covered a chunk of the Sarajevo Siege for them and CNN. In 2003 he covered the second Gulf War from Northern Iraq."[1]
