Proposed terminal

In July 2014 it was reported that Indonesia planned to build 14 dedicated coal terminals on the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra in a bid to curb illegal coal exports. One of the proposed locations was Adang. However the government was finding it difficult to obtain private funding for the terminals in the current environment of depressed coal prices.

Background

Kideco Jaya Agung uses a tugboat to transport coal from its mine to the Adang Bay Port, some 58km away. From there the coal is transshipped from the barge to the vessel. Adang Bay can facilitate loading up to the Cape-size (100,000 to 150,000 tons) vessels.
