Biographical Information
"Alun was born and brought up in North Wales before the loss of his sight at 14 meant residential school in Liverpool and Worcester. He has a background of active involvement in disabled people’s politics, was a local councillor, member of a Primary Care Trust board and wrote a column for a newspaper.
"In 2006 Alun jointly chaired a Department of Work and Pensions Advisory Group which set up Equality 2025, and from 2007 to 2009 was a member and then chair of the Disability Committee of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
"From 2003 Alun has worked as a policy and planning manager in an Adult Social Services Department of a small unitary council in the South-west. One of his roles is as lead for the Local Involvement Network (LINk)/Healthwatch."[1]
