Arkyiai power station

The Arkyiai power station, also known as the Port Sudan Power Station Project, was a proposed coal-fired power station in Sudan.

Background

According to a Sudan National Electricity Corporation (NEC) Projects profile for 2005-2010 power plan for the country, NEC was planning a 500 MW Port Sudan Power Station. A pre-feasibility study had been completed.

In December 2011, Harbin Electricity International of China and Sudan's Ministry of Electricity and Dams signed an MoU for a 2 × 300MW coal-fired power plant project in Sudan's Red Sea.

However, as of 2015 there has been no news of further progress or permits issued, and the power station appears to be abandoned.
