Banten Coal Terminal is a proposed coal terminal in Banten province, Indonesia.

Location

Background

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and Gama Corp are jointly developing coal terminal in Banten, in the western tip of Java Island, with estimated investment of Rp2 trillion. Project construction was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in October 2017. The coal terminal will have the capacity to accommodate 20 million tons of coal. Unit 1 of the coal terminal is scheduled to start commercial operation in April 2020 and Unit 2 in October 2020. Coal from the terminal will be supplied to coal fired power plants in West Java including Banten Suralaya power station, Pelabuhan Ratu power station, Banten Lontar power station, and the proposed Jawa-7 power station.
