Barbara O’Brien is on the Board of Directors of the National Pawnbrokers Association. She sits on the Public Safety and Elections Task Force of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and is a member of ALEC's Private Sector Executive Committee. O'Brien is also the Private Sector Chair of ALEC's Pawn Shop Subcommittee.[1]

ALEC is a corporate bill mill. It is not just a lobby or a front group; it is much more powerful than that.
