Biographical Information
"Basem Wanies has experience working in many facets of the Egyptian development community. Under the Values of Life Association (VOLA), Basem led a team of development workers in implementing the USAID Education Reform Program (ERP), a youth empowerment program enabling out-of-school girls to return to complete their education. He also coordinated the GEF/UNDP solar energy initiative, which provided clean and healthy energy alternatives to poor communities in Egypt.
"Most recently, Basem worked on the Civilian Education Program, a civil society project targeting youth, the physically handicapped, housewives, and daily wagers. Basem also served as Development Coordinator for the Organizations Support Program, which provided capacity-building programs for CDAs and NGOs. He has worked closely with a wide cross-section of Egyptian people and continues striving to better understand their challenges." [1]
