Biographical Information
"Bill is an expert in how people learn, children and adults, with a specific interest in, leadership, intelligence and the operation of the human mind. He is also in demand across the world as a motivational speaker and facilitator. Bill is, with Guy Claxton, Co-Director of the Centre for Real-World Learning at the University of Winchester. He is also a non-executive director of The Live Group plc, Chairman of The Talent Foundation, a patron of the Campaign for Learning and, with Philip Pullman, a patron of Pegasus Theatre in Oxford.
"Bill’s clients include the Department for Children, Schools and Families, NESTA, UK Skills, the Cabinet Office, the National College of School Leadership, Edge, Lloyds TSB, Microsoft, JCB, University of Hertfordshire, Southampton Solent University, the Health Foundation, various education authorities, and the Australian National Training Authority. Previously Bill was the first CEO of the Campaign for Learning (which attracted recognition and accolades from all quarters under the five years of his leadership) and where he created the national awareness raising events - Learning at Work Day and Family Learning Weekend. Before this, Bill led various organisations including a large secondary school in West London.

Bill is the author and co-author of more than 50 books. His books have been translated into Spanish, Russian, Bulgarian, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese and Arabic. His titles include Power up your mind; learn faster work smarter (a best-selling book for managers); The Creative Thinking Plan (with Guy Claxton); Help your child to succeed: the essential guide for parents; Discover your hidden talents; the essential guide to lifelong learning and Happy Families; how to make one, how to keep one (for the BBC). His latest book, to be published later in 2009 with Guy Claxton by the Open University, is New kinds of smart; how learnable intelligence is changing education"[1]
