Background

Indonesia state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has established a partnership with Indonesia's Kalla Group subsidiary PT Bumi Sarana Migas to develop an integrated energy terminal worth Rp10 trillion in Bojonegara, Serang District, Banten. The integrated energy terminal complex in Banten will house an LNG receiving terminal and regasification unit, a new refinery, and a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW. The project is expected to operate by 2020, in which the LNG receiving terminal will be the first to roll out. In the first phase, LNG terminal will have a capacity of 500 MMscfd. The capacity will be increased to 1,000 MMscfd in the second phase.[1]

Originally scheduled for operation in 2019, the project's expected completion date was delayed to 2020 as a result of disgreements between Pertamina and Bumi Sarana Migas.[2]

In July 2018 Pertamina cancelled the project, citing a decline in demand for gas.[3]
