CarbonNet is a Carbon Capture and Storage research and demonstration project aimed at collecting captured carbon dioxide from coal fired power stations and other industry in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria. The project is organised by the Victorian Government.

In December 2009 the federal Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism Martin Ferguson announced that CarbonNet had been shortlisted as one of four projects for federal funding of pre-feasibility work. The media release announcing the decision stated that "CarbonNet was chosen because it is near potentially suitable storage sites, both onshore and offshore, as well as having the potential to bring together a range of CO2 capture projects from a large industrial region. It aims to store between 3 and 5 mega tonnes of CO2 per annum."
