The Carrington West Extension is a possible extension to the Hunter Valley Operations mine north west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The mine is wholly owned by Coal & Allied which states that the mine extension would be to the south-west of the Carrington Pit at Hunter Valley Operations North and would occupy an "additional area of approximately 137 hectares and extraction of approximately 17Mt of in-situ of coal. Mining of additional coal is proposed to be undertaken over 6 years, within the existing development consent period to 2025."[1]
