Fly ash management and use in Australia is the responsibility of each state government regulatory agency. Fly ash is part of the waste emitted from coal-fired boilers but captured by pollution control equipment. At most power stations in Australia fly ash is disposed of in large impoundments close to the plant. In some cases fly ash is incorporated into cement products.
