The Castano Group, also known as the Castano Tobacco Litigation Group, was a group of more than 60 law firms nationwide who by June, 1998 had filed class-action suits against the tobacco industry in 27 states, representing more than 40 million people.[1] The Castano Group alleged that Philip Morris and other companies "fraudulently failed to inform consumers that nicotine is addictive and manipulated the level of nicotine in cigarettes to sustain their addictive nature."
