Charlie Rose (U.S. Rep. (D-NC) 1986-1994): Tobacco grower political ally.
Biography
Charlie Rose was a U.S. Representative, D-NC, from 1986 to 1994. Rose is known as "Mr. Tobacco." (NYT 3/20/94) Rose is the "unofficial tobacco growing bloc" leader. (Health Line 6/14/94) Rose says his loyalties are to the tobacco growers, not the tobacco companies, 1988. (L. White, Merchants 1988) He served in the House of Representatives for twelve terms, from 1973 to 1997 and did not run for reelection in 1996.
