The Chase Foundation of Virginia is the private foundation of investor Derwood Chase, who is its president. It distributed $895.5 thousand in grants to right-wing groups in 2011, including groups like FreedomWorks and members of the right-wing web of state-based organizations known as the State Policy Network, specifically:[1]

Derwood Chase is the founder of Chase Investment Counsel Corporation in Charlottesville, Virginia, as well as its chairman emeritus, CEO, treasurer, and portfolio manager. He is a trustee of the Reason Foundation and the Fraser Institute and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society, according to BusinessWeek.[2] He has been a board member of the State Policy Network.
