Cirebon Port is a multi-purpose seaport in the city of Cirebon on the north coast of the Indonesian island of Java. Port activity is dominated by bulk imports of coal and liquid asphalt for the West Java hinterland. It is operated by the Port Authority of Tanjung Priok, and owned by the Government of Indonesia.

Background

The bulk coal terminal supplies cement factories in Cirebon, Cibinong and Bogor. Coal unloading capacity is 20 tonnes per hour. In 2014 Stevedoring volume at Cirebon Port reached 4.37 million tonnes, and coal handling activities reached 3.08 million tonnes.

In November 2015 local residents voted against plans for expansion of coal-handling activities at the port, citing negative health and environmental effects from coal dust.

The Cirebon City Government (Pemkot) has said they will halt coal handling service in Cirebon Port following numerous complaints from surrounding residents over dust pollution.
