Colombia LNG Terminal is a proposed LNG export terminal in Barranquilla, Colombia. In 2015, the project was shelved indefinitely by owners. Since then, there have been no development updates and it is presumed to be cancelled.

Background

Colombia LNG Terminal is a proposed LNG terminal in , Colombia.

The Floating LNG terminal located on the Caribbean side of Colombia was to involve the construction of a pipeline between La Creciente gas field and the coastline along with the development of a liquefaction and regasification barge. The project was being developed by Pacific Rubiales Energy, the owner of the La Creciente gas field, in association with EXMAR, who would've constructed, owned, and operated the FLNG. Rubiales owned exclusive rights to supply and liquefy up to 453,592t of LNG a year for a period of 15 years

As of 2015, the Belgian shipping firm, EXMAR, announced that Rubiales Energy, a subsidiary of the Canadian company Pacific Exploration & Production Corporation, was delaying the project indefinitely. Rubiales Energy stated that the massive glut of natural gas on the global market has made the construction of the LNG terminal unprofitable for the foreseeable future. Due to the downturn in gas demand, Rubiales Energy's stock in the Toronto Stock Exchange plunged 90%. Since then, there have been no development updates and it is presumed to be cancelled.
