Background

Crown Landing LNG Terminal was a proposed LNG terminal in Logan Township, New Jersey, United States. In January of 2012, Hess Corporation surrendered authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct and operate the Crown Landing Terminal. The company's president cited increasing North American shale gas production and its impact on demand for imports as a reason for discontinuing the project.

There have been no development updates since 2012 and the project is presumed to be cancelled.

Opposition

The Sierra Club Deleware Chapter opposed the project, citing environmental, public health, and security concerns.
