The Cuttack power station is a proposed 1320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Odisha, India.

Location

The project is proposed for the villages of Brahmanbasta and Bamanpur, about 30 km west of Cuttack.

Background

On its website VISA Power states that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Odisha for the establishment of the project, to be built near the villages of Brahmanbasta and Bamanpur in the Cuttack district of Odisha, India. It would comprise two units of 660 MW each. The company states that the project's "entire water requirement of 40 Cusecs" had been "allotted from River Mahanadi about 3 kms from site."

In 2011 the company stated that the project is scheduled to be commissioned in 2013, but did not receive environmental clearance for construction until 2012.

As of July 2015 the project is not listed as under construction, and appears to have been deferred or abandoned.
