The Cypress mine is a bituminous coal mine being developed by Solid Energy, a New Zealand government-owned coal mining company. The mine is located inland from Granity on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Solid Energy refers to the mine as the 'Cypress extension' of the nearby Stockton mine.
