Biographical Details
On September 21, 2010, CHF International (CHF), announced that David A. Weiss has been named President and CEO, commencing October 1, 2010. "Weiss, who served as Chairman of CHF’s Board of Trustees from 2008-2010, comes to this new position from the global law firm DLA Piper in Washington DC, where he has served as Senior Policy Advisor in the Government Affairs Group.
"Weiss replaces Michael E. Doyle, who retires this month after 18 years of service as the organization’s President and CEO. Before that, Doyle served as Costa Rica country Director from 1985-92, totaling 25 years at CHF International...
"In his government career, Weiss served as the Assistant United States Trade Representative for North American Affairs, with primary responsibility for U.S. trade relations with Canada and Mexico and for NAFTA. He previously served in a variety of positions at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), including Executive Secretary of the agency, Executive Director for Policy Coordination, and Chairman of the interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee. Before serving at USTR, Weiss was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer for 10 years. His Foreign Service assignments included Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State, Country Officer for Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Staff Officer in the Office of the Secretary of State and Economic Officer in the American Embassy, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He also served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Peace Corps and received the U.S. Department of State Superior Honor Award. Weiss has lived in the former Yugoslavia, India, Germany, Switzerland, Bangladesh and Haiti.
