Biographical Information
"David spent 25 years as a senior executive and Director of Smorgon Consolidated Industries which was one of Australia's largest family companies. In 1995, the company announced a staged divestment of all of its business interests and David then established his own investment company, Generation Investments Pty Ltd.
"The insights and experiences David gained through working in the Smorgon family business lead to his becoming the inaugural Chairman in 1997 of Family Business Australia, a post he held until the end of 2001.
"David has been President of the AFL club, the Western Bulldogs, since 1997 and is also a Governor of the Sony Foundation of Australia.
"David was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in June, 2000 for services to the Western Bulldogs Football Club and to the community through health, education and social welfare organisations" [1]
