Background

Deven is a 121 MW CHP coal-fired power station that fuels a soda ash facility in Devyna, Bulgaria. It was renovated with a circulating fluidized bed boiler in 2009.

Unit 2

In October 2016 Amec Foster Wheeler was awarded a contract to erect a new CFB boiler in the Deven plant to replace boiler 9 in unit 2, which was running on natural gas. Replacement construction is underway, and the unit is planned for operation in 2017.

In May 2017 a new permit was issued stating the new boiler was completed.
