Dhaka Clean Fuel Gas Pipeline is an operating natural gas pipeline in Bangladesh. It is a part of the country's Dhaka Clean Fuel Project.

Location

The pipeline runs between Dhanua, Bangladesh, to Aminbazar, Bangladesh, and two city gate stations at Ashulia and Aminbazar.

Background

The Dhaka Clean Fuel gas transmission pipeline is operated by GTCL, a subsidiary of Petrobangla. It is a part of the Dhaka Clean Fuel Project, whose intent is to: improve the ambient air quality in Dhaka; develop the use of domestic natural gas resources for the transport sector to substitute for imported liquid fuels, thereby improving the foreign exchange position of the country; and establish a foundation for private sector participation in the future development of compressed natural gas-fueled transport.

Project delays

The pipeline was scheduled to be completed by June 2007, however, it was finished in June 2008, about 12 months late. This was mainly due to delayed loan effectiveness, late supply of line pipes and other materials, change of suppliers, and delay in land acquisition.
