Background

Digha LNG is a proposed floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in the offshore Digha region of West Bengal, which will be connected to an onshore receiving facility by a 115 km subsea pipeline. This project was awarded to H-Energy and its technical partner Excelerate Energy, through a tender process carried out by the Kolkata Port Trust. The FSRU will have initial regasification capacity of about 1.5 mtpa and is expected to be commissioned by Q3 2020. It may be expanded to 3 mtpa by 2025.

In January 2019 H-Energy announced that it would invest 3,700 crore ($556 million) to build a 3 mpta terminal located 115 km off the coast of Digha, West Bengal.
