Learn more about corporations VOTING to rewrite our laws.

The Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA) and the Patient Power Alliance (PPA) work to repeal health care reform[1] and call themselves a "a nonpartisan association of doctors and patients dedicated to preserving free choice in medicine."[2] The organization is a member of the National Tea Party Federation[3] and the "American Grassroots Coalition."[4]

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

The DPMA has ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). DPMA Chair and Co-Founder, Kathryn Serkes, has been on ALEC's Health and Human Services Task Force.[5] According to an August 2013 ALEC board document obtained by The Guardian, however, DPMA terminated its membership on April 22, 2013, noting that ALEC had been "unable to reach contact; history of being late on payments."[6]

About ALEC
ALEC is a corporate bill mill. It is not just a lobby or a front group; it is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, corporations hand state legislators their wishlists to benefit their bottom line. Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. They pay for a seat on ALEC task forces where corporate lobbyists and special interest reps vote with elected officials to approve “model” bills.
