Background

In September 2014, the governments of Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya, under the Northern Corridor Integration Projects (which consists of those three countries, plus South Sudan), called for bids to build a pipeline from Eldoret, Kenya, through Kampala to Kigali. The first stage would run from Eldoret to Kampala, and would have a 12-inch diameter; the second stage would run from Kampala to Kigali, and would have an unspecified diameter. The pipeline would carry refined petroleum products; it would replace oil tanker trucks as the current mode of transport of petroleum products to Kampala and Kigale. At the time, completion was planned for 2017.[1][2][3] In November 2014, the World Bank agreed to provide $600 million in funding for the project.[4]

As of March 2016, the proposal was apparently stalled.[4]
