Elmendorf Strategies is a Washington D.C. lobbying firm with strong ties to the Democratic Party.

On its website, the firm states that "Steve Elmendorf and his associates have decades of experience in legislative strategy, in both the House and Senate, in leadership and on key committees. From the Balanced Budget Act to NAFTA to Sarbanes-Oxley, the Elmendorf Strategies team has successfully advanced complex legislative initiatives - and prevented undesirable proposals from moving forward. Additionally, our team possesses unrivaled political experience - on Congressional and presidential campaigns, in major coordinated campaigns at the DCCC and the DSCC, and with the outside interest groups that play such a major role in today's legislative battles."[1]

Working for Ameren

In 2008 Elmendorf Strategies LLC received $90,000 from the major U.S. power utility, Ameren, and a further $30,000 in early 2009.[2] The registered lobbyists were Robert Cogorno, Steven Elmendorf, James Houton, Kristina Kennedy, and Shanti Stanton in 2008 with Barry LaSala joining the team in 2009 to replace Houton.
