FSP Group is the 6th largest power supply vendor in the world. Although the company is based in Taiwan, it has representation in more than 10 countries and cities (Taiwan, Germany, U.K., U.S.A., Russia, Japan, India, Korea and China. In many of the mentioned countries the company has offices in more than 1 city). Its principal products are PC/industrial Power Supplies, ODM or OEM Power Supply, Open Frame, LCD TV power and Adapters. The company is the main supplier for the following brands: Acer, Datang, Dell, Evoc, Founder, Fujitsu, Greatwall, Huawei, Lenovo, Motorola, NEC, Ruijie, Samsung, Siemens, TCL and Tsinghua Tongfang.

Company History

The company became formally registered In April 1993 with an initial paid up capital of 5 million dollars. In 1997 this amount had increased to 38 million dollars. In 1998 the company acquired land in Taoyuan´s Guei Shan industrial park for the establishment of its own plant and increased its paid up capital to 188 million dollars to “accommodate business growth”. In 1999 the company applied for public listing and increased its paid up capital to 325 million dollars. In 2000 the company opened its new plant and increased its paid up capital to 420 million dollars. At the same time FSP GROUP opened a new plant in China. In 2001 the company obtained the ISO9001 quality and the ISO14001 environmental certification. Also in 2001 it increased its paid up capital to 600 million dollars and invested in another new plant in China. In 2002 the company was listed on the stock exchange for public trading. Finally between 2002 and 2007 the company increased it’s paid up capital from 600 million dollars to 1.005.311 million dollars and invested in several plants around the world.

Child and Sudent Workers:

The FSP GROUP has been accused of hiring child workers in one of its factories (named Schenzhen Yonghong Factory) affirms a report published in November 2006 by the Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior (SACOM). According to the report, the company hired more than 200 child workers under 16 years of age, many of whom were students from rural Henan and Shaanxi provinces that worked to pay off the school fees they owed. Moreover the company required them to work an extra 1.5 hours per day without paying them due to "lower than normal productivity". The report states the child workers work between 12 and 13 hours per day which means that for every 400 hours they worked, 60 are without pay. The children's teachers, it reported, not only encouraged them to work at the factory but also “monitor” them and don´t let them quit their job.

Excessive overtime and overtime pay below legal minimum:

This same report also denounces that although the minimum pay for overtime is 6 to 8 yuan per hour, the factory, at that time, was found to be paying 4.5 to 5.8 yuan respectively.

No social insurance:

The same report also mentions that although the China labor laws require employers to buy social insurance for its workers, the factory does not provide any of the legally required social insurance for workers.

Occupational health risks:

Lastly the report mentions the negligence of the company in providing sufficient gloves, masks and proper ergonomics facilities to its workers in the workplace. ADD Full Reference

FSP Group has obtained the ISO 14001 environmental certification. There is no evidence of the company fulfilling any environmental regulation.
