Ford Foundation

The Ford Foundation was founded in 1936 by Edsel Ford and two Ford Motor Company executives.

Mission

For more than a century, the "Ford Foundation is a resource for innovative people and institutions worldwide." The Foundation's stated goals are to:

• Strengthen democratic values
• Reduce poverty and injustice
• Promote international cooperation
• Advance human achievement

As one of the largest mainstream foundations, Ford has been singled out for criticism by conservative groups seeking to 'defund the left'.[1]
