Background

This 42-inch gas pipeline runs for 840 kilometres from the Draupner E riser facility in the North Sea to a receiving terminal at Dunkirk in France. The Gassled partnership owns 65 per cent of the terminal, while GDF SUEZ owns 35 per cent. The pipeline became operational in 1998. Franpipe has a capacity of about 54 million scm per day. It has been built for an operating life of 50 years. The total investment at start-up was approximately NOK 10.6 billion
