Background

The pipeline delivers gas from the Shell-operated, Nelson platform in the Central North Sea to a gas terminal St. Fergus.The co-venturer of the Nelson platform are Shell (58.1pc), Esso Exploration and Production UK (21.23pc), Apache North Sea (11.52pc), Idemitsu Petroleum UK (7.48pc), and Premier Oil ONS (1.66pc).

The length of the pipeline is 290 kilometres (180 mi) and diameter is 20 inches (510 mm).[1] It has capacity of 4.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. The pipeline commenced operations in May 1986. It is owned and operated by Shell U.K. Limited and Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited.
