Biographical Information
"Gabrielle Fitzgerald is the Interim Director for Global Health Policy & Advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She oversees communications, public policy, and international finance for the Global Health Program. In this capacity, Fitzgerald manages a policy and advocacy grantmaking portfolio, and oversees relations with governments, nongovernmental organizations, the private sector, multilateral organizations, and other foundations. She has been a member of the Policy & Advocacy team since 2004, serving as a program officer and Deputy Director for issue advocacy.
"Prior to joining the foundation, Fitzgerald spent five years at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), focusing on HIV/AIDS and emergency programs. Previously, she served as the communications director for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and was a fellow with USAID/Zambia. Earlier in her career, Gabrielle was a speechwriter/ researcher for President Clinton at The White House and worked at the Department of Health and Human Services.
"Fitzgerald holds a Master’s of Public Administration from The Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and a B.A. from American University in Washington DC." [1]
