The Green Marketing Coalition (GMC) is an organization started by a Seattle, Washington based direct marketing company called the Hacker Group. Its goal is to help direct marketers (also called "junk mailers") establish their own green marketing practices. Companies participating in GMC are Microsoft, Washington Mutual, Kawasaki, MSP, Nahan Printing, Inc., Data-Mail, American Recycling, KP Corporation, OptimaHealth, BECU, and FastSigns. GMC advocates using chlorine-free recycled paper, proofreading marketing materials using Adobe PDF files rather than hard copies, adhering to a higher standard of recycling and good “list hygiene” (cleaning up of direct-mail lists to remove the names of dead people and others unlikely to respond). The president and CEO of the Hacker Group is Spyro Kourtis. [1][2]
