Harliwich mine is an opencast lignite mine located near Roxburgh, and is the only coal mine in Central Otago. It is owned by Harliwich Carrying Company.

Market information: In 2007 the company began trialling production of humate for use as a soil enhancer by crushing it to super-fine particles in a plant producing up to two tones per day. The product, “Harlies Humates”, is Biogro certified for organic use.
