Biographical Information

"Hassan (American, 36) was born in Kenya and has lived in Africa for over 25 years. He is currently Vice‐President of Conservation Enterprise of Wildlife Works which established the World's first Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) validated REDD projects. From the Tsavo ecosystem in Kenya, Hassan leads efforts to develop 5 million hectares of new conservation carbon projects around Africa funded by a $50 million bank financing facility. Hassan has over 13 years of full-time experience in conservation planning and program design. Hassan has directly raised $13 million in donor funds for conservation and is a recognized conservation social science thought leader. His PhD thesis from the University of Oxford was awarded the 2010 Audrey Richards Prize for the best Africanist thesis written over two years from any UK university. Hassan also holds an M.Sc. degree in Environmental Management from Oxford University, and BA from Middlebury College, USA. In his free time, Hassan is a keen taildragger bush pilot." [1]
