The Higashi Ohgishima LNG Terminal began operation in 1984 and was expanded in 1987.[1]

In 2013, Tepco has explored importing more LNG and expects the Higashi Ohgishima terminal to convert facilities to only lean LNG imports of up to 6 mtpa by 2023.[2]
