Background

Hitachi LNG Terminal is an LNG terminal in Kanto, Japan.

Completed in March 2016, the Hitachi LNG Terminal has one 50,000 kilolitre tank for LPG storage and one 230,000 kilolitres tank for LNG storage. The LNG terminal is connected to the Ibaraki-Tochigi pipeline which links the terminal to Tokyo Gas’ three other LNG terminals in the region.

Expansion Background

A second LNG tank is planned to be built by 2020 to handle future expansion of the retail gas market. Construction of the expansion began in April 2018, and would double the terminal's capacity.
