Background

In 2017 it was reported that Taipower was planning a LNG terminal at the Port of Keelung, near its Keelung heavy-oil-fired power station, also known as Hsieh-ho Power Plant. The capacity and timeline is not specified. Xiehe LNG terminal would be the first non-oil terminal in Taiwan or China.[1]

In July 2018 Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) announced that it would build the Hsieh-Ho LNG Terminal. Phase I would supply 0.9 mtpa and be complete by 2025. Phase II would supply an additional 0.9 mtpa and be complete by 2030.[2] In March 2019 it was reported that Hsieh-Ho project would be a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).[3]
