Ishikari LNG Terminal was commissioned in 2012 with one storage tank with 180,000 cubic meters of capacity. A second tank with 200,000 cubic meters of capacity was commissioned in 2016. The terminal will provide fuel for a large-scale gas-fired power plant being constructed at Ishikari Bay New Port.[2]
In August 2018 a third tank with 230,000 cubic meters of capacity was commissioned. A fourth tank with 230,000 cubic meters of capacity began to be built in 2016 and is scheduled for completion in 2020.[3]
