The Jindal Patratu captive power station (also known as the Jhakhand Project) is a 1,320-megawatt (MW) plant proposed by Jindal Steel & Power in Jharkhand, India.

Background

Jindal Power flagged the project in its December 2009 prospectus as being under investigation.

On its website, Jindal stated in March 2014 that a captive power plant with production capacity of 2640 MW is being planned in phases, and that the company is currently setting up a 1320 MW Captive Power Plant, along with a steel plant, at the town of Patratu.

In August 2014, Jindal described the project as 1320 MW.

Although Jindal reports progress on the Patratu steel plant, there appear to be little news and no permits for the 1320 MW power station. Plans for the captive power station look to be deferred or abandoned.
